Uncertainty Analysis of the CLEAR Ecosystem Model: Issues Needs, & Future Directions (Report)
CLEAR Vol II 2004
This report is an extension of the CLEAR 2003 report, & it provides a general review of UA in the context of ecosystem restoration & to establish a framework for the definition of the uncertainty concept to be used in future analyses for coastal Louisiana. This report reviews & evaluates the types of uncertainty analyses which have been performed within each module. Finally, this report identifies and analyzes the dominant sources of uncertainty (data, input variables, & model algorithms and parameters) in each module.
Open Water Monitoring to Support Coastal Restoration (Report)
CLEAR Vol II 2004
This report shows how an open water monitoring program within the Louisiana Coastal Area can be developed to address the data needs of ongoing restoration & modeling efforts, & to complement the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, & Restoration Act (CWPPRA) wetlands monitoring program, known as the Coastwide Reference Monitoring System (CRMS).
Effects of River Diversion Projects Using a Pulsing Scenario of Proposed Alternatives Based on Both Simulation & Box Modeling Approaches (Report)
CLEAR Vol II 2004
This report assesses the effects of various river diverion pulsing regimes. Both a box model & simulation model were tested.
Literature Review of Available Data & Previous Studies in Region 4: A Base to Perform Comprehensive Water & Sediment Budgets (Report)
CLEAR Vol II 2004
The objective of this task is to identify all available hydrologic & ecologic data for the Chenier Plan. Another goal of this effort is to identify & gather reports of previous studies that may be of help in developing comprehensive water & sediment budget analyses, & to setup a region-wide comprehensive hydrodynamic, salinity, & sediment modeling tools.
Adaptive Environmental Assessment & Management: A Draft Framework (Report)
Clear Vol II 2004
This report is the first step toward developing an Adaptive Environmental Assessment & Managment (AEAM) framework to help guide restoration actions toward a sustainable condition in Louisiana. This report addressed the following components of an AEAM: goals & objectives; ecosystem models; targets; performance measures; project & basin-level assessments; modeling, monitoring & research; information & communication frameworks; & decision-making approaches.
The Effect of Coastal Restoration on Flood Risk in Terrebonne Parish (Report)
CLEAR Vol II 2004
This report investigates how an assessment of the risks associated with coastal flooding might be incorporated as part of comprehensive planning for coastal restoration. It includes a review of available information & approaches for evaluating storm-related risks in coastal Louisiana, with particular attention given to a case study of flood risks in Terrebonne Parish. The report discusses the following: 1) What is at risk; 2) Evaluating risks of coastal flooding; 3) Assessing the effects of coastal restoration; & 4) Implementing a risk assessment model.
Hydrodynamic Models of Subprovince 1 (Pontchartrain Estuary) (Report)
CLEAR Vol I 2003
This report details the use of the Princeton Ocean Model (POM) to simulate the hydrologic, salinity, & water quality regime changes in the Pontchartrain Estuary that various diversions could cause relative to a base condition.
Hydrodynamic Models of Subprovince 2 (Barataria Basin) (Report)
CLEAR Vol I 2003
The TABS-MD (RMA 2, RMA 4) model was used to predict salinities at target locations in the Barataria Basin. The model domain includes the lower two-thirds of the Barataria Basin as well as a portion of the adjacent continental shelf.
Hydrodynamic Models of Subprovince 3 (Acadiana Bays) (Report)
CLEAR Vol I 2003
This report outlines the mechanics of the hydrodynamic module of the Acadiana Bays Model (ABM) version of CELSS. It was calibrated & historical validations were run in the Acadiana Bays region (a portion of Subprovince 3).
Hydrodynamic Models of Subprovince 4 (Calcasieu-Sabine Basin) (Report)
CLEAR Vol I 2003
This report details the calibration, validation, results, assumptions & limitations associated with applying the H3D hydrodynamic & salinity model to the Calcasieu-Sabine Basin & the Mike 11 model to the Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge.
