CLEAR Ecosystem Models Overview (Presentation)
Jenneke Visser, 2008, Presentation to NCED
This presentation provides an overview of the CLEAR landscape change, habitat switching, & habitat use modules.
Habib, E., et al. 2008. Effect of rainfall spatial variability & sampling on salinity prediction in an estuarine system. Journal of Hydrology 350: 56-67. (Paper)
This study focuses on the impact of spatial variability & limited sampling of rainfall on salinity prediction in Barataria Basin. Radar-rainfall data with high spatial resolution are used to simulate various scenarios of hypothetical rain gauge sampling densities over the basin. A mass-balance hydrologic salinity model is used to assess the effect of reduced rainfall sampling on salinity prediction in the basin.
Coastal Louisiana Ecosystem Assessment & Restoration Program: The Role of Ecosystem Forecasting in Evaluating Restoration Planning in the Mississippi River Deltaic Plain (Paper)
Twilley et al. 2008; American Fisheries Society
This paper provides a brief overview of the spatial framework and modular design of the CLEAR ecosystem forecasting framework & describes in greater detail the evolution of the landscape change module, concepts for its refinement, & how it was utilized in evaluating a coastal restoration alternative proposed in the CPRA Preliminary Draft Master Plan (PDMP).
Habib, E., et al. 2008 Assessing Effects of Data Limitations on Salinity Forecasting in Barataria Basin, Louisiana, with a Bayesian Analysis. Journal of Coastal Research 23(3):749-763. (Paper)
Habib et al. 2007
This manuscript is a follow-up to the CLEAR 2006 report. The objective of this study was to further investigate uncertainty in salinity forecasts imposed by limitations on data available to calibrate & apply a mass balance salinity model in Barataria Basin. A Bayesian-based methodology was applied to study the effect of data-related uncertainty on both the retrieval of model parameters & the subsequent model predictions.
Integrated Ecosystem Restoration & Hurricane Protection: Louisiana's Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast; Appendix G: Coastal Louisiana Ecosystem Assessment & Restoration (CLEAR) Report (Report)
CPRA Appendix G 2007
This appendix details the work done by the CLEAR group to assess the potential impacts of the CPRA Alternatives 1 & 2 on coastal salinity, landscape change, habitat switching & habitat use.
Integrated Ecosystem Restoration & Hurricane Protection: Louisiana's Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast (Report)
CPRA Master Plan: Apr 2007
The Master Plan presents a series of recommended hurricane protection & coastal restoration measures. Maps & explanations about the measures, as well as a management strategy for implementing them are also provided. Taken together, the Master Plan presents a conceptual vision of a sustainable coast based on the best available science & engineering.
Numerical Modeling & Water Budget Analysis of the Louisiana Chenier Plain (Presentation)
Ehab Meselhe, 2007, Presentation at LDNR
This presentation gives a 2007 overview of numerical modeling & water budget analysis of the Louisiana Chenier Plain, using the DHI MIKE FLOOD (MIKE11, MIKE21 HD/AD) suite.
Box Model / Water Quality Development (Presentation)
Bill Nuttle, 2007, Presentation at LDNR
This presentation is an overview of applying a box model to assess salinity changes in Barataria Basin as a result of different pulsing regimes of a suite of river diversions.
Concepts for Future Decision Making & Benefits Analysis for Louisiana Coastal Restoration (Presentation)
Denise Reed, 2007, Presentation at LDNR
This presentation highlights recommend approaches to assist decision-makers at all levels in Louisiana's coastal restoration programs in formulating, evaluating, & selecting plans for implementation.
CLEAR Landscape Change Model (Presentation)
Jenneke Visser, 2007, Presentation at LDNR
This presentation provides a 2007 overview of the assumptions & algorithms in the CLEAR landscape change model.
