Forecasting 50-Years of Landscape Change in Coastal Louisiana: No Increased Action & Preliminary Draft Master Plan (Report)
CLEAR Vol IV 2008
This report largely focuses on the changes there were made to the CLEAR landscape change module in between the 2004 modeling analyses & those conducted in 2007 – 2008. This report also includes descriptions of input data, restoration & protection measures considered, & landscape change output both in the form of coast wide maps and summary statistics.
Forecasting 50-years of Habitat Switching in Coastal Louisiana: No Increased Action & Preliminary Draft Master Plan (Report)
CLEAR IV 2008
This report provides a brief explanation of the assumptions & algorithms used in the habitat switching module, as well as the modifications that have been made since the 2004 LCA analyses (described in Habitat Switching Module, 2003). Finally, the results of the current analysis of a future of no increased restorative action as well as a future under the Preliminary Draft Master Plan are detailed.
Representation of multi-stanza life histories in Ecospace models for spatial organization of ecosystem trophic interaction patterns (Report)
CLEAR Vol IV 2008
This paper describes two approaches that were taken to integrate multi-stanza population dynamics predictions into the Ecospace framework, to allow realistic population models for changes in abundance & growth for key species over both space & time, while representing other ecosystem functional groups using simpler biomass dynamics equations with spatial mixing processes.
Computation of Storm Surge using Two 50 Year Future Projections of the Coastal Louisiana Landscape (Report)
CLEAR Vol IV 2008
This study is a proof of concept using the ADCIRC surge computer model to simulate Hurricane Rita across three different landscape scenarios in coastal Louisiana. The first scenario is the current landscape conditions, the second is the 50-year future landscape given no increased restorative action, & the third is teh 50-year future landscape given the restoration projects proposed in the Preliminary Draft Master Plan.
Technical & Scientific Challenges for Responding to Large-Scale Ecological Restoration (Report)
CLEAR Vol IV 2008
This report supports the development of adaptive management strategies for coastal Louisiana by provding (a) an assessment of the scientific & technical issues for analyzing coastal programs & functions; (b) a review of restoration efforts from other regions of the country; & (c) draft conclusions & implications.
Conceptual Ecological Model for River Diversions into Barataria Basin, Louisiana (Report)
CLEAR Vol IV 2008
This report uses conceptual ecological models (CEMs) to articulate the current understanding of changes that would result from a large-scale diversion of water & sediment out of the channel of the Mississippi River into the wetlands & estuaries contained in the deltaic plain.
Conceptual Ecological Models Executive Summary (Report)
CLEAR Vol IV 2008
This Executive Summary describes work done during the CLEAR Volume IV conceptual ecological model (CEM) tasks, including: science communication newsletters, technical CEMs, interactive web development, & adaptive management.
Uncertainty Assessment of Salinity Predictions in Barataria Estuarine System, Louisiana (Presentation)
Emad Habib, 2008, Presentation to South Florida Water Mngt. District
This presentation examines the utility of mass-balance salinity estuarine models for forecasting salinities under future restoration scenarios, & investigate sources & magnitudes of uncertainty in salinity forecasts.
Overview of CLEAR Input Data (Presentation)
Brady Couvillion, 2008, Presentation to NCED
This presentation gives an overview of the input data & spacial scales used in the CLEAR modeling framework.
Overview - Coastal Louisiana Ecosystem Assessment & Restoration (CLEAR) Program (Presentation)
Alaina Owens, 2008, Presentation to NCED
This presentation provides an overview of the CLEAR Program structure & the modular framework.
