CLEAR as a framework

CLEAR is a dynamic framework designed to coordinate & accommodate multiple models, scientific tools, & applications. The CLEAR framework was designed to link modeling, monitoring, research, & data management into an integrated ecosystem forecasting system to evaluate restoration alternatives along with environmental benefits.  Using a combination of individual modules that forecast physical & hydrologic processes, geomorphic features, & ecological succession, including those of higher trophic levels, under a spatially explicit design, this framework can assess systems-level environmental benefits & potential impacts across various spatial (local to landscape) & temporal (0 – 50 years) scales.

The CLEAR Program helps coordinate scientific evaluation for restoration management.  The diagram below provides an overview of the overall strucuture of the CLEAR Program. At the direction of the Program Managers, the CLEAR Program coordinates & oversees a number of activites including numeric modeling, benefits analyses, conceptual modeling, & uncertainty analyses.
